Welcome to the Little Town That Rocks!

What makes Black Mountain so special? Well, it’s obvious to those who are fortunate enough to live here. And the word is getting out. Southern Living magazine recently spilled the beans on Black Mountain, naming it one of the best small towns in America.

And they aren’t wrong! There are a lot of reasons to love this town. Just 15 miles east of Asheville, an easy day trip to Black Mountain makes it ideal for anyone looking to breathe in the mountain air of this beautiful community.

ROCK AND ROLL WITH AN EMPHASIS ON ROCK!

Yes, Black Mountain has an impressive musical history, but we are actually talking about rocking chairs! Check out the dozens of rocking chairs, scattered around the downtown Black Mountain which includes a couple of huge ones near the Visitors' Center. The rockers, decorated by local artists, pop up from spring to fall to encourage visitors to “sit on spell” on the region’s “front porch.” It’s a perfect Instagram moment!

LET'S GET BACK TO THE ‘ROCK AND ROLL.' BUT THIS TIME IT’S MUSIC!

Check out the stage at the White Horse Black Mountain which features great live music throughout the year. From jazz to classical, bluegrass to celtic, you’re sure to enjoy the ‘music in the mountain air.’ Don’t miss the town’s annual summertime Park Rhythms Summer Concert Series with live music, great food, and splendid views!

SHOPS AND EATS

After a stroll down Cherry and peeking into gift shops, galleries, antique shops, and stores filled with locally-made crafts, you may work up an appetite! Luckily Black Mountain is home to more than 35 restaurants. Choose from cookie and cupcakes, brews and burgers and even a creamery for some mighty tasty goat cheese. Check out a list of local eateries here.

TAKE A HIKE OR GRAB SOME BAIT

Surrounded by mountains, Black Mountain is a hiker’s paradise. Looking for breathtaking waterfalls? Visit DuPont State Forest Waterfalls or Catawba Falls. Or enjoy a hike up Mount Mitchell or Chimney Rock or head to one of the the Pisgah National Forest. Feeling like you would prefer an air-conditioned tour of the countryside? The Blue Ridge Parkway makes sightseeing easy!

If you prefer a picturesque lake setting with your fishing pole, Lake Tomahawk is the ideal setting. It’s also a great spot for a peaceful walk or even a ride on a boat!

There are plenty more reasons that folks love Black Mountain. If you are visiting this beautiful town and want to learn more about the real estate market here, we would love to assist you and welcome you as the newest resident of one of the Best Small Towns in America!
