Hendersonville is a city south of Asheville, in North Carolina. Downtown, the Henderson County Heritage Museum exhibits Civil War artifacts and a replica of a 1900s general store. West, Jump Off Rock overlook offers sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Mills River Park has picnic spots and a dog park. A former golf club, the Park at Flat Rock has indigenous flora and fauna, including red-winged blackbirds.

Downtown Hendersonville has the second largest downtown in western North Carolina (Asheville is the biggest) with many things to do, see and taste. Beautiful Main Street serpentines around planter boxes and lush landscaping. With more than 100 shops and 25 restaurants, it is a delight to explore the big variety of locally-owned, high-quality stores, and galleries. And see their famous painted bears!
